Again, I'm just saying that a BSG game set in the current series timeline wouldn't be that great of a game.
Which is what is needed to make a decent game. Yes, the BF2 mod does exist in a time prior to the show. I'm saying that the way the show exists now, I don't think a game set within the show would work. The original post asked if a game could be made based on the current show. They ARE setting it during a different time period - the first war between Cylons and humans happened several decades before the BSG miniseries/TV series. Just make the Morita Smartrifle sound REALLY BAD ASS, please.
You'd need some pretty hefty scripting and dialogue/coms/characterization to keep the player interested while blasting, but there's nothing that says something as simple as 'BUG ZERG RUSH (plus plasma bugs)' wouldn't work as a game. The thing is, I still think it could be a hell of a lot of fun. My personal favorite was an area denial quad cannon.sort of taking the tower guns from the movie an extra step. LOTS of bad guys, and lots of ludicrous guns. Honestly when we were sketching out the aforementioned UT mod, that was pretty much the one-shot pony. It would be cool to throw nukes into hordes of bugs, or manning a mounted chain-gun while defending an outpost.
If they make it like Serious Sam with the occasional giant fire bug boss I'll be happy.
